Shipping to the USA from the UK and from USA to the UK, Personal and Household Effects, RO RO, Commercial, Full Container Loads and Less than Container Loads

We specialise in international commercial shipments, vehicle transportation, RO RO, international removals and personal effects for shipments to and from USA.

We ship to and from all the major Ports in USA, on the East and West Coasts with weekly services. We can offer a door to Port/depot service and also door to door for shipments to and from USA. If you require Customs Clearance we can also arrange for a Broker.

If you only have a few belongings to ship then your goods would be shipped LCL, less than container load, which is a consolidated “groupage” service. Smaller shipments are consolidated into a shared container.

A full house move is likely to require a full container – either 20ft or 40ft. The container is delivered to your loading point and then once loaded and sealed taken to the Port for shipping to USA.

The rate you pay for a LCL shipment is based on the volume of the packed items. The minimum chargeable by sea is for 1 cbm with further volume charged pro rata. You can calculate the cbm of each packed box/piece by multiplying the length x width x height in cms which will then give you the cbm for that piece. For example a box 60 x 40 x 40 cms is 0.1 of a cbm. So if you had 10 boxes that size you would have 1 cbm. You can use any size of box. Heavy items such as books should be distributed over several boxes if possible.

We can arrange collection from your home or you can deliver the goods to our depot. We have 15 receiving depots in the UK and considerably more in the USA.

For shipments from the UK to the USA, you can pay to a USA depot only and then collect the shipment yourself or once customs clearance is obtained, our agent would arrange haulage and you would pay him in local currency, USD, for the haulage. Alternatively you can pay all charges door to door, where we offer that service, in the UK in pounds sterling. However it can be more cost effective to split the costs and pay in local currency due to the currency adjustment fluctuation. It is entirely up to you how much or how little you wish to prepay.

Shipping from the USA to UK, you can deliver your goods into one of our depots or alternatively we can collect. However USA residential collections are more expensive as hauliers in the USA do not have the smaller types of vehicles that are available in the UK for residential collections.

There are a lot of factors to consider when shipping to and from the USA. USA Customs clearance is very involved and many of our personal effects and household shippers to the USA prefer for us to arrange a Customs Broker to act on their behalf. For shippers shipping to UK from the USA we include Customs clearance. UK charges for Customs clearance are considerably cheaper than USA Customs clearance charges as we do not have the same amount of paperwork for clearance in UK.

We offer roll on / roll off (RO/RO) for the shipment of wheeled and tracked vehicles and break bulk / conventional for out of gauge or large pieces of cargo.

We also offer 20/40/40ft HC containers for shippers who prefer to containerise their vehicles or there isn't a RO/RO service available.
